Death By Audio Arcade Winter Fundraiser

Death by Audio Arcade is excited to kick off our winter fundraiser season with an exclusive happy hour at Wonderville for our WithFriends members on Saturday December 4th from 4pm to 8pm. We’re displaying rarely seen games from our archive: Salmon Roll, Circumnavigators, Dobotone, and more. Enjoy 2 free refreshments and cocktail snacks (while supplies last!). There will be a special curator’s tour of the arcade hosted by Mark Kleeb, as well as musical performances by Mutual Benefit and DonutShoes. Join us to hear about all the things we accomplished in 2021 as well as our plans for the future!

Thanks to the overflowing generosity of the community, last year's fundraiser was a huge success. Death By Audio Arcade was able to help sustain its homebase Wonderville, and keep it open while we quarantined through the winter. This year, we're asking for your support to help propel our organization into bigger and better things as the world works to rebound.

This past year was undoubtedly difficult for everyone. It was no different for an organization built around physical gaming in public spaces. Even still, we were able to accomplish a lot, given how constrained we were. In 2021 we began curating games from the community on the Wondercab arcade machine and the Pico-8 mini arcade. Every 3 months we held a small open call and selected a game for each, and invited the developers to a launch party. We built an arcade cabinet for Hair Nah by Momo Pixel, as part of our Hands Free Arcade Open Call which was made possible, in part, by the Greater New York Arts Development Fund of the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, administered by Brooklyn Arts Council. We started hosting in-person events again, including our community-focused Arcade Co-Op, and the hacker friendly Arcade Swap Meet. We also began hosting a games showcase each month, including the Haunted Arcade and Nintendo Dreamworld.

We have a lot planned for the future, and want to help further our love of indie games to ever greater heights!
